City to Close Envision 100 General Survey on August 10
Tomorrow, the City of Sugar Hill plans to close the general survey for Envision 100, the name the City has given the update of its comprehensive land use plan.
All planning and zoning decisions are supposed to be based on the comprehensive land use plan (often referred to as a "Comp Plan" for government types and those of us who watch them).
Future development goals are laid out in the Comp Plan. Those concerned about development in the City overall or within the immediate vicinity of their properties should check out the Future Development section of the plan. If you are dissatisfied with what you see, this is the time to speak.
The Comp Plan currently in effect was completed in 2019. You can read the full document here:
Sugar Hill Comprehensive Plan 2019
You can protest a requested rezoning for a project, but it is more difficult to get the City to deny a rezoning request if it fits with the Comp Plan. Denying requests that fit the Comp Plan can get the City sued, as evidenced by a recent developer lawsuit against the City.
To complete the survey, go to https://cityofsugarhill.com/envision100/ and click the Envision 100 link in the middle of the page.
You can (and should) also sign up to participate in one of the Envision 100 Community Roundtables.
