Love Thy Neighbor. And Thy Neighbor's Neighbor.
Hey, Maybe Love the Whole City While You're At it.
It's a well-known fact in local politics that people will generally vote for their neighbors because they figure that officials will represent their own interests, and by extension, those of their immediate neighbors.
That's all well and good. People are human and I don't expect anyone to screw themselves over. But, I also don't expect them to screw everybody else over.
I want to know how homeowners in Sugar Hill get some consideration from this Mayor and Council if they don't happen to live next door to one of them. Do you have to grovel, kiss up, donate to a campaign, or are you just outta luck for the duration?
I am glad for better projects with less dense zoning. But it needs to be the rule around here, not a rare exception.
Sugar Hill Politicians, you need to show some REAL love for everybody here. Maybe next time a developer dances into City Hall with a grand plan to cram some apartments and townhomes behind some neighborhood, you can at least pretend you care about those people a little bit. Maybe focus on updating our comprehensive land use plan to protect all the neighborhoods as you would protect your own.
