The City held its final public hearing for the 2024 millage rate tonight. The City Manager had proposed that the City Council keep the millage rate the same as in 2023, at 3.69 mills.
Council Member Gary Pirkle moved to approve a millage rate of 3.5 mills instead, reducing the millage rate even lower than this year's rollback rate of 3.534 mills. Council Member Meg Avery seconded the motion.
Council Members Pirkle, Avery, and Joshua Page voted in favor of the motion for the millage rate of 3.5 mills for 2024.
Council Members Taylor Anderson and Alvin Hicks voted against the 3.5 millage rate.
